A new post at The Daily Mind raised an interesting point for me — we tend to have no problem spending tons of time working on our physical health, but to spend time working on our emotional health is far less common. I think it’s important to remember that emotional health us something that each of us can work on, and that it is just as important as maintaining our physical health.
The ideas presented are as follows, but head to The Daily Mind to see further explanation of these points. You may agree with some and not others, but taking even a few steps would no doubt benefit us all.
1. Understand you are in control of your emotions
2. Become familiar with your mind through meditation
3. Connect with good people and avoid bad company
4. Practice ethical behavior to avoid depression, anxiety and fear
5. Read the masters and scholars of the past
6. Avoid man made food, eat naturally
7. Enjoy the middle (avoid excess)
8. Develop strength in your own personal set of values
